Golborne Warriors
2023/2024 Season
2023/2024 Season So Far...
Golborne Warriors 9 - 1 Ladybridge Lightning
There was no time for breakfast in bed for our Mum's on Mothers Day this year with a 9am meet in the rain! Little did anyone know what treats the boys had up their sleeves, though, with a 9-1 win in a cup match against Ladybridge Lightning, securing their place in the next round of the cup. Those goals just kept on coming! Charlie with 5, Theo with 2 and Billy with 1. The team are really starting to work together well now and are looking strong. Well done boys!
Special thanks to Lucas Tomlinson, 18, who stepped in when the booked ref failed to turn up. Lucas is the elder brother of one of the boys on the team. Lucas qualified as an U18 FA ref in October 2022 and happened to have his kit with him, luckily. He did a great job.

Well, it's been a bit of a mixed bag for the team so far this year. The boys have enjoyed some wins, including a 6-1 cup match securing them a place in the second round, along with some disappointing losses, but that's football! Unfortunately, a number of games have been postponed due to unplayable and water logged pitches which will see the boys having to catch up on games towards the end of the season, with a number of games being played on 4G pitches.

Golborne Warriors 4 - 2 AFC Burden Park Predators
Last week saw the return of the league and Golborne Warriors suffered a 5-0 loss to AFC Burden Park Titans who ran away with the league last year. The Warriors had bare minimum numbers without any subs on a very hot day and it showed, that bigger pitch and additional game time this year pushed the boys, but, the Titans played some great football on the day - congratulations to the Titans on the win.

This week, the boys bounced back with only 2 of the team unable to make the fixture. They enjoyed a 4-2 win against a tough AFC Burden Park Predators team. We saw some brilliant team spirit from the Warriors with them all working together to get the result.

Next week the team have a rare weekend off - we hope you enjoy your free weekend Warriors! We'll see you when you're back doing what you do best.
